\\MPTSNCLP04\Share\New York\FacilitiesEng\NDC Project Plan\Workstream Master\filename.mpp To provide you with more info, the path for the folders is:
#Multiple predecessors in itaskx 3 full#
Is there something I can do maybe using VBA to "convert" that full path name to a drive letter? My big worry here is that I already have tons of links in the plan and so many of them are hidden with those "." that I won't be able to find them with a find/replace kind of thing. Any thoughts? I am familiar with recording macros and making minor tweaks to them, but I am not a VBA programmer. So that could be my issue, but I didn't even see the option for a "short name" and I looked in the folder properties dialog too. I'm working on a network where there are very tight controls over rights, etc. Ok, so I tried to assign a short name to the folder and I don't seem to have the ability to do that or that function has been disabled. Maria RE: Multiple Predecessors list abbreviated with "." I tried mapping a drive to the folder where the plans are, but Project still shows the entire path. I have used the links to other plans tool, but that can be time consuming to find the individual task in that screen. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Is there a way to avoid this? It's hard to see what's been linked with this abbreviation. Therefore after 2-3 links on one task, the field doesn't show all of the predecessors (or sucessors), it just inserts a "." for each additional link. The plans reside on a shared drive on a server and so the paths are long. Because we're linking between plans, the predecessors & sucessors fields show the path of the subproject being linked to/from. We have inserted about 13 sub projects and there are many (thousands) of links between the plans. We are using MS Project 2003 (but this happens in 2007 also) and are using the master/consolidated project function.
